Pumping stations are fundamental to water and wastewater infrastructure. They also combine mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems in environments where a seemingly simple operational error can contribute to equipment damage, flooding, service disruption or environmental consequences. Bespoke VR training enables operators to practise pumping-station SOPs before interacting with a live installation. Bespoke AR can subsequently provide contextual maintenance and inspection information while authorised personnel are working on site.

Water treatment works are complex operational environments where pumps, valves, chemical systems, filters, instrumentation and control systems all have to work together. For operators, contractors and new starters, understanding how those systems interact is essential. Yet practising operational procedures directly on a working treatment plant can be difficult, disruptive and, in some cases, unsafe. Bespoke virtual reality (VR) training provides another option. A digital version of a specific treatment works can allow employees to rehearse Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) before carrying them out on the real site. Augmented reality (AR) can then support competent personnel once they are in the field, providing contextual instructions and asset information at the point of work.
