Plant rooms are among the most operationally important areas of any commercial building, hospital, university, data centre, hotel or industrial facility. They can also be difficult places in which to train. Boilers, pumps, electrical distribution equipment, air handling units, pressurisation systems and controls may all be operating simultaneously, leaving little room for inexperienced engineers to practise procedures without affecting live services. Virtual Reality (VR) provides another option. By creating a bespoke digital representation of a facility and turning its Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) into interactive exercises, facilities management teams can rehearse plant-room tasks before carrying them out on the real equipment.
